The Arrogant Bully-Culture of ‘The View’s’ Has-Been Glitterati
I don’t usually entertain any thought at all about the ABC fascist cluck-a-thon otherwise known as The View, but a recent “hardship they’re having in finding a conservative to tolerate their daily abuse spotlights a very serious malady in contemporary American society.
Since Meghan McCain’s departure from The View (evidently the Left’s sorry idea of a conservative), the hyper-partisan program has been struggling to find a replacement for her.
One of the chief reasons the producers of The View will likely never find a true conservative to suffer the slings and arrows of the far-Left co-hosts is that they are looking for a conservative unicorn.
Sources with knowledge of the difficulties in the search say the cast has-been primadonnas — Joy Behar (born Josephine Occhiuto and who still uses her first husband’s last name), Whoopi Goldberg (born Caryn Elaine Johnson), and Asunción “Sunny” Cummings Hostin — will not consider “a Republican who is a denier of the 2020 election results, embraced the January 6 riots, or is seen as flirting too heavily with fringe conspiracy theories or the MAGA wing of the GOP.”
At the same time, the potential host must have credibility with “mainstream Republicans,” many of whom voted for and still support the entirety of the policies enacted by former President Donald Trump.
Why This Is Important
To be transparent, I have never been able to stomach more than a few minutes of this mind garbage. It simply must be categorized as a verbal version of The Jerry Springer Show, the arrogant and caustic rhetoric serving the folding chair to the head.
That said, the point I am trying to spotlight is that The View — and its cast of has-beens — typify the hard-Left’s idea of debate. These are the “conversations” the know-it-all Left wants to have on important cultural topics. We talk, you listen, you agree, we move on.
A simple examination of the prerequisite demands that a “conservative” prospect has to have makes it clear they are not truly seeking someone who possesses tangible knowledge on the issues, but a poll-sniffing pseudo-conservative who will consistently bow to their bullying, and that is exactly what it is: bullying.
That Goldberg (can we even be surprised that her real name is Caryn?) and Behar have little contemporary work to speak of besides pandering to the far-Left glitterati and ginning up divide is something to note. This is the modus operandi of the has-been Hollywood class. Once their life expectancy in the industry has been exhausted they turn to the only avenue left to keep them in the limelight of relevance.
The list of artists-turned-activists is rich: Cher, Jane Fonda, Matt Damon, Alyssa Milano, Bette Midler, Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lena Dunham, Tim Robbins, Ashley Judd, Mark Ruffalo, Debra Messing, Eva Longoria, Katie Perry, Danny Glover, Larry David, and many more.
The rhetoric of each of these people is steeped in self-importance and narcissism with failing to bring even a modicum of subject knowledge to the table beyond what can be divined by reading a headline and ignoring an article. This creates a manipulative and uneducated bully class that exploits their notoriety to feign passion and knowledge on a subject simply to feed their egos and quench their addiction to fame.
Sadly, the intellectual cancer of disingenuousness — that is reading the headlines, ignoring information, and then acting as if you have knowledge of the subject being presented — is a societal malady. It has metastasized well beyond the elitist class and with the country’s (and the world’s) addiction to gleaning its information from social media posts instead of actually reading studies, white papers, reports, and even comprehensive news reporting we, as a people, are being forced to live in the land of the lowest common denominator.
If we are to reverse this tide of subject ignorance we must first take the time to read the articles under the headlines and then read the supporting documentation to those articles. This will allow us to divine the emotional propaganda from true fact-based information thus increasing the quality of our society’s knowledge base and forcing the mainstream media — as well as the political and activist classes — to base their reporting on fact instead of fiction.
Then the has-been glitterati of The View and other “bubblegum for the mind” programming can be dispensed with. Move over Jerry, Whoopi, Joy, and Sunny need room on the couch of sub-mediocrity.
